Holland Corporate Finance is pleased to announce that its client, the management team of BGN, has together with Audax successfully acquired the retail and internet activities of BGN, currently known as Selexyz Boekhandels B.V.

Selexyz Boekhandels B.V. (hereinafter “Selexyz”), is a renowned bookstore chain in the Netherlands. Selexyz operates 17 bookstores across the Netherlands, all located at prime locations. The chain includes well-known bookstores such as Selexyz Donner, Selexyz Scheltema, Selexyz Broese and Selexyz Dominicanen (acknowledged by the Guardian as the most beautiful bookstore in the world). In addition Selexyz generates internet sales via selexyz.nl. Selexyz is the no. 1 player in general book retail and selexyz.nl is no. 2 in the Dutch online book retail market.

When BGN was put up for sale, the management team of BGN took an active stance   and finally acquired the retail and internet activities. The management team, consisting of  Matthijs van der Lely (CEO), Menno van den Brand (CFO) and Angélique Wouters (COO) has acquired 66.6% of the shares in Selexyz and its partner Audax 33.4%.

Matthijs van der Lely, CEO of Selexyz, stated: “It was a tough job to close this deal, as it was not only a sale process but also a carve-out: the student and B-to-B related activities were not part of this transaction. We are pleased that we now can start to further improve the market position of our stores."
