Divestment of City Box Holding, a leading Dutch self-storage provider

Holland Corporate Finance is pleased to announce that its client, the management team of City Box Holding B.V., and Immofinanz AG have successfully acquired 100% of the share capital of City Box Holding from Merrill Lynch International and Europa Capital.

City Box is one of the leading companies in the Dutch self storage industry and has 14 self-storage facilities with 45,000 m² of total usable space located near large cities in the Netherlands. Occupancy of the 9,000 storage compartments is considerably above the market average. City Box is planning to open ten additional self-storage facilities in the next three years.

The acquisition of City Box is also of strategic importance. In the next few years Immofinanz wants to create an Europe-wide self-storage group aiming for market leadership in continental Europe by acquiring and building up interests in local self-storage companies.

Immofinanz has been on the self-storage market since 2005 with a stake in the Austrian market leader “SelfStorage – Dein Lagerraum”. The company is currently implementing a large-scale expansion program in Germany and Switzerland, where 30 self-storage facilities are built in locations in all major cities by 2009. In Austria there are now seven facilities in operation.

Immofinanz was founded in 1990, and is the leading property company in the center of Europe. The company trades in the Prime Market segment of the Vienna Stock Exchange, and is one of the largest property companies on the European continent. The property portfolio now covers 2,637 objects with 11.32 million m² of rentable space and is valued at €16.3 billion. This widely diversified group of investments includes properties in Austria, Eastern and Western Europe.
